Protest Resolutions: There were several protests on the rallye that were handled as shown below by the rallyemaster and the protest committee. Had I anticipated some of these situations better, most of the protests could have been prevented through improved wording of the generals. Even so, not all protests were granted. Granted Protests: M/77: The gimmick that "R at Unininstructed Ts" could be done at Villa St (as St became Ts because signs were read backward) was thrown out of the rallye scoring. This made a perfect score be 990 points. AJ/35: Several cars were granted partial points for getting AJ/35 for a reason other than specified in the critique. While both reasons were considered "incorrect", their values were different. A/1, CP2: One car started late and was given points for A/1 (start CM) and CP 2. The rallyist did get coursemarker J, so would have presumably entered the CP a second time. They did call the rallyemaster when "entering the CP" the first time. Denied Protests: I/81: Several rallyists pointed out that the generals were not specific about what type of instruction gets brought into effect when you record a number. The argument was that even though instruction 81 on the Supp/SI page wasn't labelled as a Supp, it could still be done. It was denied because the generals never specified how to execute an numbered instructions with parts that wasn't a Supp. AF/35: One rallyist argued that both Sylvans had to appear on a sign. This was denied per the reason in the critique (a singular occurrence of the word Sylvan on a sign was sufficient). O/66: One rallyist suggested an order of precedence conflict ("Supp" 88 and BI19) at an intersection that subsequently prevented BI 19 from being done at the "POTS" sign. This was denied as 88 was an SI, and there was no reason to deny the BI 19 completely because it couldn't be done a block earlier. If you enjoy rallying, tell a friend about it! Next TRC Rallye: February Frolic, cosponsored with PCA, starting in Dublin on February 19th, 2005 Next TRC Coursemarker Gimmick Rallye: The Prisoner, TRC's 300th rallye, starting in Mt.
