Please encourage your friends who might enjoy gimmick rallyes to give it a try! * In the questionnaire (TB 1), the gimmicks with the most votes were the unusual signs ("Beware of Dog", "Fire Station", and "Speeding Kills"). Some rallyists voted for sign-related gimmicks that I hadn't even included in the rallye (a privately erected "Not a Through Street" sign in someone's yard, and a rather creative interpretation of the "Fire Station" sign). The runners up were RI 34 (on the Supp/SI page) and receiving your score sheet again at the CP (so you could do the Soup again at a different Wright Avenue). * Everyone got CM 1 (at the start), RI 2A ("Farley" sign not on right), CO 9 (do Soup on score sheet, not RI 8), Q 11 (Peacock), CP 1 (enter), CP 2 (recite/sing rhyme), 30 B ("Nisqually" sign not on right), and 31 B (Tee was not defined). * No one answered "Beatrice" for Q 10 (partial credit if you missed the "onto Beatrice" gimmick) or got CZ 14 (a fish for Soup 25, which could not be executed). * Here is a breakdown of how many teams in each class recorded each of the remaining gimmicks: Beg Nov Sen Ex ME Total Q 0 Part 1/4 0/6 0/5 0/3 0/4 1/22 "Molly Maid" signs invalid Full 2/4 6/6 5/5 3/3 4/4 20/22 Q0 never came into effect .28 C 1/4 6/6 5/5 3/3 3/4 19/22 RI .28 before RI 1 1 C 2/4 1/6 2/5 2/3 3/4 10/22 W is neither on signs nor in RI 3 C 4/4 5/6 5/5 3/3 4/4 21/22 San Ramon sign on left Q 3 3/4 5/6 5/5 3/3 2/4 18/22 "Beware of Dog" sign invalid 4 A 2/4 5/6 2/5 2/3 4/4 15/22 San Ramon & San Ramon not an Opp CI 17* 2/4 5/6 5/5 3/3 4/4 19/22 Full: received Soup 9 (San Luis) 5 C 4/4 3/6 4/5 3/3 4/4 18/22 Can turn after "Montecito" sign 6 A 1/4 3/6 3/5 2/3 3/4 12/22 "Way" (on "All Way") not on signs 7 A Part 3/4 2/6 1/5 0/3 0/4 6/22 Cannot do part D Full 1/4 3/6 3/5 3/3 4/4 14/22 RI with A & D parts is invalid 8 A 2/4 5/6 5/5 3/3 3/4 18/22 "The Right Stuff" not on a sign CC 28 2/4 6/6 5/5 3/3 3/4 19/22 Do RI 8 late at parallel sign CE 30 4/4 6/6 5/5 3/3 3/4 21/22 On course 9 A 4/4 6/6 4/5 3/3 4/4 21/22 Do not split words ("Beat Rice") 10 B 0/4 1/6 3/5 1/3 3/4 8/22 Cannot drive on "Hackett" sign Q 10 Full 3/4 5/6 4/5 2/3 4/4 18/22 Stay onto Beatrice CK 32 1/4 1/6 2/5 2/3 0/4 6/22 Bad: RI 10 took you off Beatrice 11 A 4/4 5/6 5/5 3/3 4/4 21/22 A & B out of order on RI page CH 17* 2/4 0/6 0/5 0/3 0/4 2/22 Partial: late Soup 9 (San Luis) 12 A 0/4 1/6 1/5 2/3 2/4 6/22 Cannot R at forced turn 13 A 1/4 3/6 1/5 3/3 2/4 10/22 Opp requires an indicated direction 14 B 1/4 3/6 2/5 3/3 3/4 12/22 "Lime" not on right as PASSED 15 A 1/4 3/6 2/5 3/3 4/4 13/22 "Ticonderoga" not on left as PASSED Q 16 Part 3/4 3/6 3/5 1/3 0/4 10/22 Do Q 16 & RI 16 in page order Full 0/4 3/6 2/5 1/3 3/4 9/22 Do Q 16 after RI 16 16 B 0/4 1/6 0/5 1/3 2/4 4/22 Fire Station not a defined Landmark CT 14 4/4 2/6 2/5 1/3 0/4 9/22 Partial: do Soup 14 (Pimento) CU 14 0/4 4/6 3/5 2/3 4/4 13/22 Full: CT does not exist on sign 17 A 4/4 6/6 4/5 3/3 4/4 21/22 Ave does not exist on sign 18 B 3/4 6/6 5/5 3/3 4/4 21/22 Stay onto Pome 19 B 3/4 4/6 1/5 3/3 4/4 15/22 "Raynella" not on "Reynella" sign 20 A 4/4 5/6 5/5 3/3 4/4 21/22 21 before 20 on score sheet Q 20 1/4 2/6 1/5 3/3 4/4 11/22 A Signal is a (gray) Intersection 22 B 1/4 4/6 4/5 3/3 4/4 16/22 Do Soup 36 (Pepper) 23 A 3/4 5/6 5/5 3/3 3/4 19/22 A & B out of order on score sheet Q 23 Part 1/4 2/6 3/5 1/3 1/4 8/22 5: Parallel signs make it a Stop Full 0/4 1/6 1/5 0/3 3/4 5/22 4: But multiple signs are required 24 C 3/4 5/6 4/5 3/3 4/4 19/22 Bernardo is 5th intersection CP 3 3/4 5/6 5/5 3/3 4/4 20/22 I & J out of order in rhyme CP 4 0/4 2/6 2/5 1/3 3/4 8/22 E, N, & S do not exist in rhyme CP 5 0/4 2/6 2/5 1/3 3/4 8/22 But "Double U" still does exist CN 14 0/4 0/6 0/5 2/3 2/4 4/22 Soup on score sheet received again 25 B 4/4 6/6 5/5 3/3 3/4 21/22 "Fraser" sign not on right 26 B 0/4 4/6 4/5 3/3 2/4 13/22 Second action takes you off Fraser Q 26 4/4 6/6 5/5 3/3 3/4 21/22 "Speeding Kills Slow Down" 27 B 4/4 4/6 4/5 3/3 3/4 18/22 "The Dalles SA" not on any sign 29 C 0/4 0/6 1/5 1/3 4/4 6/22 "35" not a word, ok if not on sign CX 17 0/4 1/6 0/5 0/3 0/4 1/22 Bad: Soup 25 said L (not R) Q 30 Part 4/4 3/6 1/5 1/3 1/4 10/22 Lachine came after RI 30 Part 0/4 2/6 1/5 1/3 0/4 4/22 Beatrice came after Supp 30 Full 0/4 0/6 3/5 1/3 3/4 7/22 Write both for full credit 32 C 4/4 4/6 4/5 3/3 4/4 19/22 R on The Dalles after Helena 34 C 0/4 3/6 1/5 1/3 2/4 7/22 Do RI 34 (on Supp/SI sheet) Q 7 4/4 3/6 4/5 3/3 4/4 18/22 No Q 7 on RI page, so leave blank * A big THANK YOU to everyone who made this rallye possible: Glen Dayton, Abby Grossman, Nancy Hanna, Michelle McGrew, and Steve Watt who prechecked; Glen Dayton and Abby Grossman who worked the checkpoints; Nick and Teresa Stefanisko who worked registration and handled awards; Nancy Hanna and Steve Watt who printed the rallye materials; and All of you!
